Leucine is the first branched-chain amino acid and is considered to be the most anabolic amino acid and is known for its strong activation of mTOR, the gene responsible for protein synthesis. So, for every 2,000 mg of leucine, there are 1,000 mg of isoleucine and valine. It also has pretty good nutrition facts and ingredients with no artificial flavors/sweeteners.The "2:1:1" refers to the ratio of leucine, isoleucine, and valine (in that order).
However, I was ECSTATIC to find that there were no artificial ingredients in this product, which I try very hard to avoid! For the most part, I can get behind this product’s ingredient list and nutrition facts.īottom line, I loved the flavor of this protein powder in several different forms of consumption. Also, I’m not a huge fan of all of the different kinds of sugar in it when there’s also stevia and monk fruit extract (natural, zero calorie sweeteners). Why? Well, I’m not really sure why a protein powder would need two different kinds of oil in it when there’s already multiply fat sources (buttermilk, and chia seed meal). Here are the ingredients I was not a fan of: Sunflower and Safflower Oil, Cane Sugar, and Glucose Syrup. Being the health nut that I am, the ingredients list usually makes or breaks whether or not I would eat something, regardless of how good it may taste. I was also fairly impressed with the ingredient label. I was hooked! I had it in a smoothie, baked with it, and stirred it into my plain greek yogurt all were equally delicious! This protein powder had the perfect amount of sweetness, with a milk chocolate flavor that took me right back to my childhood. Then I got to taste it and was totally blown away. Upon opening it, I quickly found that it smells almost exactly like Nesquik chocolate mix, which I always loved as a kid. I new I was going to love this stuff as soon as I opened the tub.

So this begins a three-part review of the Puredge GNC line of the three products I received. I tore open the box only to discover a letter from GNC stating that I was hand-selected to try their new line of products. Knowing I hadn’t ordered anything, I was extremely curious as to why I was receiving a large package and what was inside of it. Back on February 10th, I got a lovely surprise in the mail.
